Seeing early registration, we decide to add one more category to our event.

there will be 4 cat; :

MEN

WOMEN

JUNIOR (men and women, aged 17 and under on Jan 2010 1st)

KID (men and women, aged 12 and under on Jan 2010 1st)

Both category will be rewarded on each discipline and overall.

Junior can decide to race with Men, but can’t race in both!

Men and women will race the same courses.

Junior and Kid will get an easier one.

In order to further improve the quality of the proposed event, we decided not to offer 3 meals (as originally planned) but 4 meals!

Yesterday, we received a very bad news from regional institutions.

The Meze Slalom competition can?t take place the way it was announced.

At the last moment, the authorities require from us excessive medical means which we are incapable to supply, and thus forbid us to close the roads.

We are truly sorry about it, more than you could imagine…we had given a lot of work and had operated everything to offer you a quality event to enjoy.

We were very pleased to receive you in the best conditions, and the event was planned to be a success.

Even if there is still maybe 1% chance we will get the roads closure, we prefer to have this difficult decision now and not inform you on the last time.

<font color=red>The event is thus officially cancelled!</font>

The 1% chance we finally get the roads will be fixed on Monday : our national federation president will call the local authorities and will try to find an arrangement.

If it succeeds, we will have the roads as planned and we will be able to race in the city of Mèze.

We are also trying to have one more day one the market place, in the heart of the city

Unfortunately all this crap already had some negative impacts on our organization.

However, we already engaged numerous expenses and some aspects of the organization don?t allow us to step forward for everything.

We already paid for food, tee-shirts, trophies, stickers, commercials …

So, some of us (most of us frenchies, indeed… all that planned to come still will be there) will be in Meze that weekend and some aspects of <font color=red>the event will take place in OUTLAW shape</font>:

– We have for sure, Saturday afternoon, the market place of Meze : we?ll do some high jump contest (condition for us to get a part of the state money, money we need not to lose too much)

We may put some cones to show the slalom also

– Timed races will take place in outlaw shape the rest of the time (spot to be determined, starting ramps will be there if possible)

– We?ll go to Poussan skatepark and we?ll be able to organize an outlaw park slalom

All of this will be free for every racer and the lunches for the 3 days will be offered. All the racers that were registered will get a free tee-shirt of Meze Slalom.

All the gifts we received from our sponsors will be given such as the trophies.

Sunday?s dinner at the restaurant has been cancelled.

Obviously, we?ll understand that those who wish and can cancel do so.

Keep us in touch and don?t hesitate to contact me if you need help with cancelation or any further information.

Those that have already booked and paid but who are not willing to attend the event anyway, let us know and we?ll make our best to find the right solution.

I can assure you of our deepest disappointment regarding the situation.

We will be at Meze that week-end and we will make our best to offer the attendees a friendly skateboarding weekend, but aside from the official frame.

Once again we are very sorry and we?re hoping nobody got hurt in the process.

This is really bad news. F*****g politics. This is providing young people with healthy leisure alternatives, for god sake! and with an international angle! F***k them.

Guillaume: I know how you feel. I’m still waiting to be refunded 2400 euros from Madrid city council that I paid as a «guarantee» for «damages» done by slalom riders in the f*****g tarmac in our spanish championship. We also got the permit after having asked for it 3 months in advanced, just 48h before and they asked for 3000 euros in fees. I had to come back from Paris (where I was working) and spend 48h negotiating with assholes in the city hall (and not working) to finally settle for 200 euros in fees. Then, they spend the money in f****g outrageous things that have no impact whatsoever in young people leisure and sports activities. This tells me we should get organized and stronger!!!!

Asphalt is very good and nobody will go upset us there

We also found a supermarket parking as a 2nd spot. it is flat but there is a covered palce in case of rain.

The event will be there !

official part will be only the high jump contest

All other will be outlaw !

But maybe even better : don’t expect music, arches, audience… just expect some good skateboarding

About Meze,

We already found some nice spots to makes it outlaw. Already 10 frenchies confirm me they will come.

As i said before, registration is now free for those who registerd before i annouce cancellation, with teeshirt of the event.

We also have foods to make sandwitches for free all WE.

And also some prizes from our sponsors.

It will be the best outlaw ever in france :D

SPOTS

OFFICIAL :

=> Esplanade : it is center place of the town, 100m*15m, little slope, it s not asphalt but a perfectly flat concrete, pretty slippery for slalom, but it s possible. We will officialy make high jump contest there We ask to have it as a backup spot on monday, but nothing’s sure

OUTLAW :

=> skatepark de Poussan : we can make a nice outlaw park race there; we will need to get there in the pretty morning (about 9:00) to make it before all the kids get in. Will be saturday AM or sunday AM => BIG SLOPE : we find a road in a industrial zone, nice slope (near Trocadero), long, large for a dual race. It seems pretty quiet on sunday and monday. good for all – It will be the 1st choice outlaw spot => PARKING LOT it s a really big parking long, flat, large for a dual race, asphalt not so bad it seems, with a big covered place in case of rain. Quiet on sunday and monday good for flat tight => CYCLING ROAD : nice asphalt, pretty long, moderate slope, only for single line slalom Good for single line hybrid slalom

Add to the schedule, we will give a chance to Christopher (JUN) and Sandrine (WOM) to attend 50 cones (flat) and 100 cones (SLOPE) WR
